Our story

We have been producing

cold-pressed, unrefined oils for 20 years

We were the first to bring golden rapeseed fields to Latvia, without which the Latvian landscape and Instagram walls are no longer imaginable.

To grow into a field of gold, seeds not only need time, but also care, attention and knowledge, which we have been collecting and putting to use for 20 years, reaching countless kitchens and tables.

Putting our hand on our heart and every bottle of Iecavnieks oil, we can say that we take responsibility for the work we do to create the best we can from rapeseed, hemp and flaxseed. That is why we test and use the oil in our own kitchens every day and are not shy about recommending it to friends.

From seed to table

Sowing time is crucial for successful oilseed rape cultivation

Growing oilseed rape is a continuous process. In autumn, after the harvest, we till the fields and sow winter oilseed rape. In spring, we carefully check how the fields have overwintered.

In line with European Union regulations, we use quality rapeseed that has not been genetically modified and meets food safety requirements. Thanks to careful breeding, varieties such as Brassica napus 00 and 000 have near-zero levels of erucic acid. This makes oilseed rape one of the most valuable oilseeds for human health.

We grow oilseed rape responsibly

Experienced agronomists take prudent care of the health of our fields. We grow four crops on more than 500 hectares of land – spring and winter wheat, oilseed rape and field beans. By following crop rotation, we manage to reduce weeds and pests, thus minimising the use of plant protection products.

Responsible and sustainable farming is how we care for nature and the people around us.

Cold-pressed oils are healthier

We produce oil using the cold-pressing method. This way, the oil retains its natural properties – its clear, golden colour, nutty taste and smell, and the vitamins and minerals it contains. The oil is thicker than refined alternatives, so you will need less of it in the pan.

We are proud to offer natural and organic products that are beneficial for health.

To support regional agriculture, we produce our oil using only rapeseed grown in Latvia – from our own fields or bought from local farmers.
