Oil is an essential element in the kitchen of every cook. There is a very wide range and use of oils.

In terms of fatty acids the unrefined rapeseed oil is very similar to olive oil and is commonly called the “Northern olive oil”. The cold-pressed rapeseed oil is rich in vitamin E, which is a natural antioxidant and is deemed the youth elixir. Even a teaspoon of rapeseed oil per day contains the necessary amount of fatty acids and other valuable substances hidden in the oil. Unfortunately, stores offer mostly refined oils, while one shall search more carefully to find an unrefined oil.

Unrefined oils are cold-pressed, they are not subject to any genetic or chemical changes, after processing they contain all the relevant fatty acids, as well as the specific fatty acid – oleic acid and vitamins. There are a few saturated fats or the so called bad fats in the rapeseed oil – only 6%. It is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, which in turn are stable in thermal processing. Rapeseed oil contains an ideal, healthy proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids Omega 3 and Omega 6.

Rapeseed oil is used for grilling, salads, various sauces and confectionery. Some are frightened by its characteristic smell, which is common to all unrefined oils, but, if all conditions of the production are met, the smell does not affect the taste of the food and is even pleasant.

Rapeseed oil is also a compound in the production of medicine goods – extracts, salves, cosmetic oils and creams. It is contained in various cosmetic milks due to its soothing nature after sun bathing. The selection of unrefined oils is not that small as it might seem at first, but one has to know, where they are sold.

In Latvia, Iecava, SIA "Iecavnieks&Co" produces the unrefined rapeseed oil of a permanently high quality, already appreciated by customers.

Rapeseed oil is sold in 0,5 L glass bottle, and 0,75 L, 1 L, 5 L PET bottles.
